Asking According to God’s Will
Ahh, yes. Next to asking amiss, there is no single objection more popular to the open-ended promises that Jesus continually made than the "You must ask 'according to Gods will'" statement that people make when quoting from I John 5. People seem to think this scripture negates Jesus' promise that "if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" or "nothing is impossible to him who believes" or "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you". I assure you, Jesus and John weren't disagreeing with each other. I think John's book, and particular his aforementioned statement when taken in context, concisely explain how we MUST live and how we "get" things from God. I hope this podcast helps you.
