King Asa and the Vast Army
Jehoshaphat's old man, King Asa, had troubles with a vast army himself. He considers himself, and the 580,000 fighting men willing to die to protect him, to be completely powerless without God. All too often, we "think of ourselves more highly than we ought" (NIV) and forget that we are truly strongest when we face our problems from a position of weakness. King Asa puts things in perspective.

In Quietness and Trust is Your Strength
What a powerful statement in Isaiah 30!! In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength! We have learned the wrong lesson from the the great men of faith in our time. These men have great faith, but it is because they have learned to trust in God's faithfulness. We try and emulate their actions, without knowing their hearts and we end up "working our heads off to please God" (The Message, Gal 3:2-5). We have to be able to rest and depend on our God. HE IS FAITHFUL! Relax.
